Should you buy a wedding album?

Yes. Yes you should.

In today’s world everything is digital. It’s easy, it’s fast, and most importantly it’s cheap (at least when talking about photography). When we finish editing a wedding shoot we can have every single photo uploaded and sent to the bride within hours. These photos can easily be shared to social media, sent to mom and dad, or downloaded for future use. Here’s the catch though: after that initial excitement those hundreds of photos are going to get lost in the slew of files on your hard drive until you stumble upon them sometime later. You’ll smile at your favorites and then back to the digital library they go. The problem here is that you miss the story, you miss the feeling of getting married again, you miss that emotion. Albums fix that.

I don’t know about you but I personally love sitting down and sifting through old photos from before I was born and seeing my parents and how the world was before me. There is something special about holding those photos from so long ago and them still retaining their original image. On this same premise I think its incredibly important to continue printing our photos well into the digital age we live in now.

I believe there is a pattern now with newlyweds who don’t even consider an album based on the price alone. Most couples decide on a few 5×7 prints of their favorite photos that they keep framed on the wall for their first few years of marriage. Then kids come along. These photos are swapped out with photos of the kids and those 5×7 prints are never seen again. Albums fix that. A professional album put together by a professional craftsman will be the same from the day you receive it to the day its passed on to later generations. Every person from your kids to their kids will be able to flip through the thick pages and experience your wedding day in its entirety.

Another thing to keep in mind is that technology is always changing, thus the way you view photos will be forever changing. The only way to always be able to view your photos? Tangible, beautiful, prints. With the current path of technology DVD’s won’t be readable in 10 years and who knows if we will even have USB drives down the road. Through all the troubles with technology you will always have your album of your wedding day.

Now, I understand that professional albums are very expensive, but your special day and memories will be the most important investment you can make! Because everyone has an iPhone and walks around with their point and shoot, we tend to not think as highly as professional shots from your special day. But that is why you hired a professional, right? I think you would only do those prints justice by having them professionally made in a lab. Have us treat your special day like art, and design a high-qaulity wedding album that you and your children can look at decades from now.

Well I feel like I just rambled, but the point still stands. You WILL want to relive your wedding day on your 20th anniversary down to every fine detail. Why not make room in the budget for an album? We think you should!
